Explanation match-format

Matchplay without handicap settlement: For each won hole you receive 1 point. If you are 3 points ahead with 2 holes to go, the final score is 3&2. The match can end in a tie. Men start at yellow, women at red.

Match play is decided hole by hole. On every hole the player with the lower score wins that hole; equal scores halve it. The total number of strokes over the round does not count, only the holes won.

Keeping score

The score is the difference in holes won. After five holes, a player who has won three and lost one is 2 up. As soon as a player leads by more holes than there are left to play, the match is over: 3&2 means three holes up with two holes left to play. A match that goes to the last hole ends 1 up, 2 up and so on, and when both players are level after the final hole the match is a tie (all square). No extra holes are played.

Conceding

A putt, a hole or the whole match can be conceded at any time. A conceded hole counts as won by the other player.

Handicaps and tees

Matches are played without handicap settlement: every hole is played scratch. In a mixed match, men play from the yellow tees and women from the red tees.

Entering the result

Enter the margin exactly as it was on the course, winner first: 3&2, 1 up or a tie. Every margin on the result list carries a line saying which player was how many holes up, so you can check you picked the right one.
